House Party Joanne Fluke Blackberry Pie Murder Kit Review

I was selected to host a Joanne Fluke Blackberry Pie Murder House Party and could not be more thrilled.  I love to read murder/mystery novels and just got done reading then entire series of Hannah Swenson Mysteries (which is this series).  Hannah Swenson is the lead character in the series of books and owns a bakery.  To be selected to host this party and get the new released book before it even hits the stores I was all about.  Its actual release date was 02/25/14, and I received it on 02/10/14.

When this package got delivered to us, S and I dug right into the box in the playroom.  I really wanted to see what was in the box and S loves to see what we get in the mail.  This box wasn’t huge, it was about the size of a shoe box, but was packed to the gills with stuff.

First and foremost I received the new book Blackberry Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke which was signed on the inside of the cover and came with a letter thanking me for having the party.  I also received 10 booklets which had the first chapter of the book in it along with recipes that were included in the book.  I was also given two paperback copies of her latest released book Red Velvet Cupcake Murder.  Since I already read this book a while back these will be given away to party goers.

There were three different recipes included using blackberries.  Of course there was a recipe for blackberry pie which I would have to make for the party since that is the theme of the party.  There were two different cocktail recipes for a Blackberry Pie Martini and Blackberry Pie Coolie.   That would explain why there was a martini shaker in the box.

There were some Pepperidge Farm Strawberry thumbprint cookies and two flavors of tea included in the package.  B quickly snagged the cookies to eat (I made him take them to work so they would not be around the house), and the tea I thought I would give out at the party.  There was a Tito’s martini shaker with glow sticks.  The glow sticks are to be used as drink stirrers.  I don’t think I will make any drinks so the martini shaker will probably not be used.

Joanne Fluke Book Cover Bingo sounded like a fun game to play.  I love that it is all the covers of the books which helps if someone is interested in reading all the books to check off as they read them all.  In the box I also found a $5 Visa card which will work out great for the winner of bingo.

A golf towel was included with the new book logo on it so I plan on using this as decoration instead of printing out decorations.

When I opened the package up from House Party I was so excited.  I dived right into the book and had it finished in a matter of days.  Now became the time to start party planning.  I decided I was going to host this party with my Disney Side Celebration party and tie them together.  I knew a blackberry pie was going to be a necessity, and only hoped that they had some in the store.  I could use frozen, but prefer to use fresh berries.  Stay tuned for the post about the party.  I should have it completed soon.

It was a great series to read, I highly recommend it. I like how it has recipes in it, too. It seems to make it more real.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
