Saturday Strike

Saturday Strike

I thought while B was out on strike (hopefully not for long) I would talk about what is going on and how we have been affected by it in the past week.

Week 10

I thought this could be the week for us.  From the emails and updates we were receiving it sounded like the strike could finally be coming to an end.  I have no idea who to believe anymore.

So here is what we were told.  The big hang-up was Management Rights and they finally came to an agreement that both sides were okay with.  The International USW and Corporate reviewed the agreement.  The International USW rejected the Management Rights part of the contract and is now talking to the BP Corporate Level.  That was a mouth full.  To put it in basic term at a local level they finally agreed on the Management Rights portion (there are still other parts they have not agreed on) and at a national level they rejected the terms the local agreed on.  So the National union is going to discuss this with the corporate level of BP.

Now at a local level they have no more meetings scheduled and all talks have stalled.  So this strike continues and totally sucks.  The union has scheduled a meeting on Monday to go over what happened and what will happen.  I can tell you now what they are going to say, “We tried and will continue to keep trying.  Stay union strong and help out at the picket lines.”

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
