Manic Monday

Manic Mondays are when I let you know what plans I have for the week. Some weeks I may be very busy where other weeks there may not be any plans. I have also decided to do a quick recap of what we actually did versus what I thought we were going to do.

This Week

Monday-P does not have school due to Easter Monday (that was what the school calendar said). It is going to be super nice so we are going to spend as much time outside as we can. I also would like to take down the Easter decorations in the house and the eggs outside on the trees. The kids have there last tutoring for the year.

Tuesday-P and I are going to hang out at home. It is going to be somewhat nice outside so I am hoping she can play. S has soccer and then piano lessons after school.

Wednesday-P is going back to school after being off for a week. I am going to run to Target and check up on what is left of the Easter clearance so I know what to come back for when it goes 90%. S has baseball practice after dinner.

Thursday-P and I are going to be hanging out at home baking the cakes for the birthday party. I think we are also going to mix up all the frosting and colors so we are ready to go for Friday afternoon.

Friday-I have a meeting at P’s school in the morning. She has her spring program at the church. Afterward there is a small art show of the kids work. P and I will spend the afternoon decorating the 2 birthday cakes for Saturday.

Saturday-The kids have soccer games in the morning. We have a birthday party in the afternoon that I am making two birthday cakes.

Sunday-We have a 1st Communion to go to. Now they have rescheduled P’s soccer game for in the morning so I think we are skipping the church for the 1st Communion but will go to the luncheon afterward.

Last Week Recap

Monday I had a doctor’s appointment in the morning so B took P to school and picked her up. The rest of the day we hung out at home not doing a whole lot.

Tuesday I let P do my make-up. She always pretends to so this time I let her for real. I went through all the extra makeup I had and gave her a bag to keep all of what she wants to use. It was something else when she was done. I did 3 different pictures. Before, after, and the next day when I did it. After school S had soccer practice and then went straight to baseball practice. It was a long 2 ½ hours for him. He did it and never complained or slowed down (any slower than what he already goes).

Wednesday P had a field trip to the Toledo Museum. B and I both went. She got to make a painting, and then we walked around the museum to look at paintings. She was bummed there wasn’t a mummy to see, but she did get to see May’s pottery in the gift shop. P spent the afternoon playing with grandma. The kids had tutoring after S got home from school.

Thursday it was nice outside so P helped B mow the lawn and played when she got tired of following B she played with gems. The kids had tutoring after school when S got home.

Friday it rained most of the day. I took the kids to get their spring pics done. They turned out great. They finally cancelled S’s baseball practice which worked out great because P was going to go with me and what would I do with her for 1 ½ hours in the car? They even cancelled the soccer games for tomorrow which is a first. In the five years S has been playing they have never cancelled. Trust me he has played on flooded fields, snow, sleet, rain, and more.

Saturday since the soccer games were cancelled we got up in the morning and went to an Easter egg hunt at Lake High School done by Mainstreet Church. They moved the egg hunt from outside to inside the gym which was a first for them, but great because it was down pouring when we got there. The kids had a fun time. This egg hunt was different from others we have gone to. The eggs were empty and you traded them in for a prize. P did great and got 54 eggs. S got 104 eggs. S literally filled up a grocery bag, his bucket, and needed P’s. We hung out at home in the afternoon and decorated Easter eggs. We used rice to make them and they turned out great. All of them were speckled and the kids used different colors on them. Nowhere near as messy as the shaving cream. It was a relatively easy clean-up. We went to the neighbors for dinner. The kids all had fun playing together.

Sunday the kiddos got up early (their normal time, early for me) and dug through their Easter baskets. They took over 40 minutes to open everything.   They got a ton of small blind bags/boxes. Everything they opened they had to play with. I had two super quiet kids for about 2 hours. We got dressed and went to the Helicopter Easter Egg Drop at The Church on Strayer Rd. They cancelled the egg drop the night before due to rain and flooded fields. Today was no better and they were not doing the egg drop. They gave each kid a bag of eggs, but the helicopter did drop some eggs so kids could get the “experience,” but they were not allowed to pick them up. Of course, that is not my thing and I knew if the kids could get a run on the two cops blocking the path they couldn’t stop them. So I had S and P go up to the line and get the few eggs that crossed the line. I encouraged more kids to do it with them. The parents were all for it. When I was by S and P I would inch up and move the line back further and further until we had a bunch of kids. At that point I had S go over the line and made P follow. Well that was the end of it and the cops let them go. S and P had fun and got a ton of eggs without falling down in the mud. P stopped when she got a half of eggs because she didn’t want to get her hands muddy. When we got home the kids did their egg hunt in the back yard and then we went to grandma and grandpa’s to do another egg hunt. Afterward we went home and played outside for the rest of the afternoon. It was so nice that despite how tired they were I made them stay outside.

Last Week

Monday-P has school in the morning. After school the kids have tutoring but that is the only thing we have planned.

Tuesday-P and I are hanging out at home during the day. When S gets home from school he has soccer practice and goes straight from that to baseball practice. It is going to be a long night for him. Thankfully he does not have piano lessons and we are doing catechism lessons at home for the rest of the year.

Wednesday-P has a field trip for school to the Toledo Museum. She is so excited. I told her when it is done we can go check out the mummy. She asked me if it was going to talk to her and walk around. I think she has been watching too much Vampirina. Thank you Disney Channel. The kids have tutoring after S gets home from school.

Thursday-P and I are going to hang out at home. No plans for the kids after school. It is supposed to be 70° so I am hoping they play outside.

Friday-is Good Friday. I am going to try to get the kids spring pictures done as long as P’s dress gets here in time. The rest of the day we are just going to be home. S has baseball practice in the evening.

Saturday-We have to decorate eggs at some point.   I want to try doing it this year with rice but am not quite sure how that works so I have to do a little more research.

Sunday-Today is Easter. We are going to the helicopter egg drop in the morning. When we get home hopefully B will be awake and the kids can hunt for the eggs in the backyard the Easter Bunny hid. We don’t leave the eggs we dye out to be hidden because PJ ate them one year and we learned.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
