  • My dad works for the railroad and is an engineer.  After trying for over a year to catch him driving the train we finally did it!  S loves trains and loves that Papa drives them.  For him to see Papa driving a train it would be like the Holy Grail for him.  When S saw him driving the train he was screaming and waving at him like crazy.  I myself was so excited that I didn’t get a picture of S because I was so busy getting pictures of my dad driving the train.  To make it even better he opened the window and was waving out it.
  • S was so happy after Papa went by he just kept clapping and when we got in the car the first thing he said was, “Woo hoo!”

  • After our train expedition we made a stop at Bass Pro to see Santa.  Of course S loved it, and this year they added a carousel for the kids to ride that had wild animals to ride instead of horses!
  • S loved decorating the gingerbread people for our gingerbread tree farm.  I did the frosting and S did all of the candies.  He had a great time doing them and did not eat any of them.  It was a first!

  • This is what our gingerbread display looked like this year.  This is three different kits I combined into one.  The gingerbread people were one kit and S did all the bead candy decorations except for the back left one.  After three he was tired of doing them so I did the fourth.  The next night we worked on the trees which were two kits.  Each kit made two trees.  So with one kit we did two small trees and after S got bored I took the last tree kit and made one big tree.  I love making gingerbread scenes and try to do something different every year.  For the past 7 years (taking last year off because I had carpal tunnel surgery) I have not repeated a kit yet!

  • I was complaining about not getting any Christmas cards and can say things have changed.  This picture was taken on Monday and since then the cards have been rolling in.  Most of the cards are now doubled up and all picture cards are hanging sideways to make room for more.  I love when it gets really full.

  • Yesterday we went out to play in the snow before it all melted and it was pleasantly nice outside.  About 40°, cloudy and no wind outside.  S had a great time playing in all the snow hills B created when he plowed the driveway with the 4-wheeler.  He was on the other side of the mound and kept popping his head back over at me.  I couldn’t figure out what he was doing with his snow shovel and when I went over to check it out he had started a tunnel.
  • I helped S to make the tunnel deeper and big enough so he could climb through.  We did a test run and made Derby run through it first.  When Derby did it without hesitation PJ tried to but we did not let her because she is too big.  S crawled through on his stomach and about mid-point he started screaming he was stuck.  With a little help to show him he had to shimmy through the hole on his belly he was all about it and went through the tunnel about 5 more times before calling it a day outside.

  • After coming in from outside S was so tired he couldn’t even jump on his trampoline and just sat there watching a Christmas show.  I kept waiting for him to fall asleep sitting there but he didn’t.
  • Ever seen the movie Parenthood where the little kid has a bucket on his head and keeps running into the wall.  This is what S reminded me of putting this Lego bucket on his head.  The only difference was he would put it on and when it covered his eyes he would shake his head until it finally came off.  Did he do this just once?  Nope I would say about 10 times at least.  I even had to get a video of him doing it which was over two minutes long and he just kept doing it over and over again.
