Lulu Peach Smart Weighted Fitness Hoop Review

Disclaimer:  I received this product for free or highly discounted in exchange for an honest review.  All thoughts and opinions expressed are mine.

At the gym we joked about trying a weighted hula hoop, so when I was given the opportunity to review one, I knew it was meant to be.  I wasn’t really sure how or what the weighted hula hoop was going to work and look like.  I watched a few videos on how to use it so I knew that it needed to fit snug to my waist.  On the inside of the ring are silicone knobs to hold the hoop in place and not cause rubbing.  I don’t think the silicone knobs were comfortable and they did leave marks on certain parts of my hips because of where bones stick out and there is not as much “padding.”  To get the ball to go around consistently took a little practice but after about 5-10 minutes I had it down and was able to keep it going with no issues.  I was really hoping the digital box on the weight was going to count the number of times it went around my waist.  On the Amazon page it does say that it is supposed to be a counter for the number of times the ball goes around, but it was just a timer I could set to keep track of how long I was doing the exercise.

Seriously after 5 minutes of doing it I was done.  I workout for an hour in the morning (it is usually off and on doing different exercises and not none stop), so going for 5 minutes straight was a lot.  After the doing it for only 5 minutes the first day I did notice a few bruises on my hip bone area where they do stick out.  My abdomen muscles were not sore and really, I haven’t tried to do it much more other than to have a laugh.

According to the information on the Amazon page it says that doing this exercise for 30 minutes burns the equivalent number of calories as 30 minutes of swimming, 45 minutes of running, or 80 minutes of walking.  While I have not tried this out yet, I plan to compare it to what I burn when I walk for 80 minutes.  If that is true this could save me a tone of time.  Because the waist is adjustable it can be used by different people.  The links that are part of the hoop can be added or removed as needed, but are not the easiest to do.  I have not broken any of the links yet when taking the belt on and off but I think if I let my kids do it on there own, they would break a few in no time.  While this has been a good laugh for us, I cannot seriously consider this a good form of weight-loss.  I think it would be a good exercise to add into your weekly activities but not a fix for a trim waist.  (Only my opinion.  I am not a professional exercise instruction nor have I taken any educational classes on the subject.)
