Wild Wednesday

Wild Wednesday is about all the crazy or unbelievable things that have happened in the last week to me, in the news, pop culture, etc.

Since last Wednesday here is what has happened:

  • Today was a day of recovery for P and me.  We ran out early to see if we could find princess dresses 50% off.  We found Elsa, Elena, Anna, and P really wanted Rapunzel so we got that, too.  I didn’t think I would find any of them and was surprised that I found all of them in P’s size.  The rest of the day we hung out on the couch and played dress-up.

  • I am itching to put up Christmas decorations today.  We decided we would put up “holiday” decorations this weekend but would hold off on the tree for a few weeks.
  • I saw my first Christmas commercial today.  Not a commercial for toys but literally Target’s first Christmas commercial.  They did not waste time with starting them the day after Halloween.
  • The kids had so much fun trick-or-treating last night.  I cannot believe how far we have come in a year.  This year P was running with the kids and wanted to be a part of the group.  She went up to houses without me having to go with her, she said trick-or-treat on her own, and said thank you without having to be reminded.

  • I love that S wants to go trick-or-treating and could care less about the candy he gets.  He just likes doing it.  He went for just short of an hour.  That is the longest he has gone in the 8 years he has been out.  He did go right back to my sister’s house and proceed to hand out candy for the remaining hour.  He wanted to hang out with us inside at some point and was talking on the couch to us and bolted out of the house.  We couldn’t figure out what he was doing until you heard him saying, “Hey, come on up, I still have lots of candy left!”  The parents responded by saying their kids had enough.  S was not taking that and kept trying to entice the kids to get some candy.  It didn’t work, but it didn’t stop S from trying to get others.  Of course it was 7:55pm at this point and trick-or-treating is over at 8pm.  He was willing to hand candy out until we finally turned off the front porch light at 8pm.  He has always liked handing candy out.

  • We have had candy in the house since last Thursday when we did our first Halloween event.  My kids like candy but it is not there go to snack.  P has not asked once for a piece of candy.  If I offered her a piece she would take it but it never crosses her mind that we have candy.  S does ask for candy once in a while.  I think he has had maybe 3 pieces since Thursday.  I only let them have one piece a day.  Sure I eat way more than that but I am trying to prevent them from having my bad eating habits.  We have sent 3 grocery bags full of candy with B to work to give his co-workers.  I have managed to only keep a small bowl of candy.  The funniest thing is the bowl is right out in the open, not hidden.  So they both see it all the time and still don’t ask for candy.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
