Manic Monday

Manic Mondays are when I let you know what plans I have for the week.  Some weeks I may be very busy where other weeks there may not be any plans.  Since I now have two little ones to take care of I am going to post weekly goals for myself to try to hold myself accountable.  I have also decided to do a quick recap of what we actually did versus what I thought we were going to do.

This Week

It is the week before Christmas and it is going to be a lot of getting ready for the big day.

Monday-We don’t have any plans.  I think we are just going to be hanging around the house.  I really need to start wrapping presents.  S loves to do that so I would wait for him to get home from school before I do.

Tuesday-I thought S had catechism but it looks like he does not.  He does have piano lessons.  He then has a few weeks off of both.

Wednesday-S got on pink last Friday and wanted to go to Dave & Buster’s.  I talked him into another option.  He can go to May’s and make a clay snowman instead.  He opted for the snowman.  I am grateful because I am getting burnt out on Dave & Buster’s.

Thursday-P and I have Snow Day at the library in the morning.  P is so excited to get to see her friends again.  She hasn’t seen them in a few months.  This is S’s last day before winter break.  He also has his holiday party in the afternoon.

Friday-B took the day off and S is off from school so who knows what we could end up doing.

Saturday-It will be a day of getting all the food and presents ready for tomorrow.  We have to get stuff ready for my side of the family and then his side of the family.  We also need to make sure that the kid’s presents are wrapped.

Sunday We also do our Christmas with the kids on Christmas Eve morning.  I started this when S was 1 because that way we can float it to Christmas day or in the evening depending on B’s work schedule.  I like to do the presents with the kids on Christmas Eve because they are excited and not burnt out from Christmas Eve and all the craziness. (No worries, Santa comes on Christmas Day no matter what B works.)

Last Week Recap

Monday was S’s 8th birthday.  Chippy brought S and P matching pajamas.  He has been bringing pajamas to S every year for his birthday.  S took a game to school to play in his classroom to celebrate his birthday.  He ended up taking Kerplunk which he got the night before at his birthday party.  After school we went to Build A Bear where S picked out a Pokémon character.  We told P that she would not be able to get an animal.  Well B found Buddy the Elf bear on clearance for only $10.  I really wanted it and P ended up hugging it and got it.  S decided he wanted pizza for dinner so we picked some up on the way home.  P fell asleep on the way home.  I carried her in the house and she stayed asleep on the couch and did not wake up till the next morning.

Tuesday we hung out at home.  P woke up and was very confused why she still had on her clothes and why she was not in pajamas.  When I explained to her she fell asleep in the car and never woke up she did not understand.  When she figured it out she asked me if she could have her pizza from last night.  S had catechism and piano lessons after school.

Wednesday P and I decorated cookies with A for his birthday celebration at school.  They both had so much fun decorating the candles.  They each had a different spin on their decorating ideas.  After B got home from work we took S to Dave & Buster’s for his birthday.  He asked if he could go.  We weren’t going to but since taking my niece skating got cancelled we thought we would surprise him.  We all hit small jackpots and were excited about it.  P got another surprise My Little Pony bag.  S opted to not get a prize and asked if he could play a SpongeBob game more and try to win a playing card.  He ended up winning the card many games later.  I played two games and got another card for him.

Thursday we decorated gingerbread houses after school.  P decorated a sugar cookie Frozen castle instead of a traditional gingerbread house.  It took many steps but P was very patient with it.  S and I worked on a gingerbread village for him.  We both got so frustrated with the icing that after doing a few houses we called it a night.  The royal icing I made to decorate cookies from the night before was too runny, and the icing included in the kit was too thick and dried out.

Friday we hung out at home.  I talked to P and she finally decided that she would give all her binkies to Chippy to take back to Santa to give to other babies.  She was actually really excited about it.  I thought bedtime would be rough so I told her if she was still awake when her Elsa nightlight went off she could call me and I would come in.  I never heard a peep from her the entire night.  She did wake up at 6:30am the next morning.

This is in her words!

Saturday P woke me up nice and early since she didn’t have a binky to put her back to sleep.  She came out to a good letter instead of a naughty letter.  This time the letter was from Santa and she got an early Christmas present from him because of giving up her binkies.  We hung out at home during the day while B helped our friends out and fixed there plumbing.  We were in the house in the morning.  In the afternoon, it got warmer out so S went outside to play.  He ended up going down to our friends to play where B was.  P and I got ready and went to my nieces dance recital.  P loves watching all the girls dancing.  Unfortunately, we left her My Little Pony character in the auditorium.  I didn’t realize until after the kids were in bed.  I did call and email the next day but have not heard anything as of Monday night.

Sunday I took S to get his 8 year pictures.  P was supposed to come and get a picture with him, but she threw a humongous fit and I ended up making B stay home with her.  S did great in his pictures and I was happy with how they turned out.  When we got home we had lunch and then I took P for a drive to get apples and cider.  She was asleep in the car in less than 5 minutes, no joke.  So it is about 50 minutes round trip to get the apples and she slept the entire time.  She woke up when she got home (bummer!).  I couldn’t get her to fall back asleep but I fell asleep on the couch.  After dinner B and I went in the basement to go through the gifts to figure out everything.  S watched P upstairs so we could do this.

Last Week

It was S’s birthday Monday so I was busy on Sunday with his party and Monday doing birthday stuff so I didn’t get a chance to work on this post.

Monday is S’s 8th birthday.  He is taking a game to school to play with his classmates since they can no longer take treats to celebrate their birthday.  After school we are going to do Build-A-Bear, and then he gets to pick dinner.

Tuesday is much of the same.  S has catechism and piano lessons after school.

Wednesday we are going to decorate cookies after May gets home from school for Baby A to take to preschool.  We are going to take my niece roller skating.  S and P are excited to go.  If my niece changes her mind we may go to Dave and Buster’s.  We usually do something special for S’s birthday since he has it so close to Christmas.  He asked if we could do D & B on Monday but I told him we only go on Wednesdays so he can play twice as many games.

Thursday we don’t have any plans.  I want to try to make ornaments with the kids so we will attempt them after S gets home from school.

Friday is another day of no plans.

Saturday my other niece has her dance recital at night.  P and I are going to the recital.  She loves to see all the girls dance.

Sunday we have no plans.  I am sure we will think of something to do Christmassy with it only being a week away.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
